Dear Golf Gods, we come before thee humble, hopeful, and, for now, at even par. Grant us fairways that are forgiving, putts that find the cup, and the wisdom to leave the driver in the bag when we both know we shouldn’t hit it. Protect us from the water, deliver us from the sand, and if a bogey must come, let it come with dignity. We ask not for birdies we haven’t earned, only that our ball finds the short grass more often than the woods. In the name of the front nine, the back nine, and the holy 19th hole. Amen.

Dear Golf Gods, I do not play, but I love someone who does. Watch over my golfer today. Grant them fairways that are wide and rough that is merciful. Let their putts drop, let their drives fly straight, and let their excuses be at least believable. Return them to me in four hours, sunburned and humbled but smiling. And if they shoot the round of their life, grant me the strength to hear about it, shot by shot, for the rest of my days. Amen.
